Hester Luckey Jackson, age 70, died Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009 in the sanctuary of Sugar Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Herman Brown officiating. Interment followed in Eastman Cemetery. Mrs. Jackson grew up and attended school in Eastman and moved to Brooklyn, New York at an early age: She was a long time member of Coney Island Cathedral where she loved to worship. Mrs. Jackson was a very proud woman that loved life and loved to have fun. She was very strong, outgoing and was surely one of a kind. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vic and Ossie Wilson; her first husband, James Luckey; her second husband, Nathaniel (Fred) Jackson; two sisters, Evelyn (Sister) Hollinshed and Ossie Dupree; three brothers, Grover Thomas, J. L. Wilson and Bobby Wilson. Survivors include two brothers; and a child she loved as her own. Serving as pallbearers were friends of the family. Rollins Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.
