Obituary
Irene Whiting Gordon, age 82, died Thursday, October 8, 2009.' Funeral services were held on Monday, October 12, 2009 at the United Concerned Citizen's Building (Old' Peabody School) with Brother Arthur L. Gordon officiating. Interment followed in Whiting Cemetery.
Mrs. Gordon was a geriatric caregiver in Prosper and Punder in Texas and joined Shiloh Baptist Church at an early age and served as an usher. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Deland Whiting; husbands, Arthur Gordon, Sr. and Willie Powell; five brothers; two sisters; daughters, Elaine Gaines and Velma Ray; and son, Wade Gordon.
Survivors include her children; four sisters; 27 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren.
