Magie was born on November 2, 1910, by natural birth in Wheeler County. Her parents were Sid Lowery and Sally Livingston. She grew up with one sister, one brother, two-half-sisters and two half-brothers. Around 1914, Magie started to school at Oak Grove in Wheeler County. She was very smart. She like to read and study almost to the point of becoming a bookworm. She enjoyed basketball in school and at home. Later the family moved to the Dan Browning Place. Magie graduated from the eleventh grade from a school that stood on the present day site of New Bethel Church. On March 16, 1926, she gave birth to Willalrd by natural birth. I was unable to obtain any facts dealing with Willard's father and the circumstance surrounding his birth. It is rumored that his real father was Robert Locke, the brother of Thomas Locke. I have also heard of a Grimes being involved. Magie was a very likable person. She was the type that one meets and instantly likes. She was a nurse maid. With no doctors and hospitals in the area, she was the only hope of survial sick people had. She was extremely kind to old people. In 1932, Magie married Thomas Locke. They met at a community dance in Thomas' present home. The trio moved into a house in the Pasture. Thomas adopted Williard. Magie became a great sewer. She made most of the family's cloths. During the second year of marriage, Magie became very sick and was in bed off and on for the next six months. Then, in October of 1933, she was bed-riddeen with cancer. In March of 1934, she died and was buried in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
