Obituary
MR. DOYCE EUGENE MULLIS, SR., age 78, of Plainfield, GA, died Sunday, October 5, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, October 8, at Plainfield Baptist Church, with Rev. Tim Tanner and Rev. Bill Mullis officiating, with interment in Bay Springs Freewill Cemetery, Plainfield.
Mr. Mullis was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a member of Plainfield Baptist Church and a 1954 graduate of Eastman High School. He was a former member of Eastman Lions Club, a member of the Eugene Smith Masonic Lodge #279 and the Dodge County Shrine Club, where he was devoted to children's charities. He was a farmer, co-owner of both Mullis Vault Company and Dodge County Livestock Market, and a former manager of the Macon Farmers' Market. He was a retired public official serving as the Dodge County Commissioner for 8 years and Probate Judge for 16 years. He was son of the late Odie Parkerson Mullis & William Henry Mullis and was preceded in death by a Sister - Mildred Stuckey and 6 Brothers - Fulton Mullis, Felder Mullis, F. T. Mullis, Donald Mullis, James Mullis and Gilbert Mullis.
Survivors: Wife of 60 years; 2 Daughters; 3 Sons; 3 Brothers; 4 Sisters-in-Law; 10 Grandchildren; 15 Great-Grandchildren; Many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
The family may be contacted at the Mullis residence, and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday, October 7. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Plainfield Baptist Church, 271 Plainfield Road, Eastman, GA 31023 or The Shriners Hospital for Children % Jim Kimmons, 311 Griffin Avenue, Eastman, GA 31023.
