Obituary
MR. EDWARD THOMAS HEALY, JR., age 72, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, July 20, 2024.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, July 23, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Karen Cheek officiating.
Tom was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1952 to the late Edward Thomas Healy, Sr. and Shirley Bestercy LeBlanc. His father was in the U.S. Air Force and the family moved several times during his childhood and he spent several years in Clovis, NM and also in England. He was a graduate of East Hartford High School in Connecticut. After graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy, and served as a Naval Corpsman while he was stationed in Rota Spain during the Vietnam Conflict. He met his future bride while in Spain, and they were married in her hometown of Eastman, GA in 1975. They moved to Savannah, GA where he attended Armstrong College, where he studied accounting. Their son, Sam, was born in Savannah in 1977 and soon after they were on the move again to Atlanta, GA in 1978. Tom studied to become a Certified Public Accountant at Georgia State University and graduated summa cum laude. Their daughter Kate soon joined the family in 1983 while they were living in Atlanta. Tom enjoyed a career in accounting for over thirty years for firms such as Arthur Anderson Price Waterhouse and Thompson Reuters. The family later moved back to Eastman in 2007 to be near Carol’s family. Tom was a dedicated husband and a loving father, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many. He loved reading, cooking, tending to his exotic plants, and most importantly, spending time with his family and his faithful canine companion, Radar. He will be forever loved.
Along with his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his Stepfather, Donald LeBlanc, Sister, Linda Healy Greer, Brother-in-law, Bill Taylor, and Nephew, Graham Taylor.
He is survived by his Wife of 49 years; Daughter; Son; Grandchildren; Sisters-in-law; Nephew and Niece; Several Great-Nieces and Nephews; Numerous extended family members and friends.
