MR. JOHN WILLIAM “BILLY” BARRON, JR., age 73, of Milan, GA, died Monday, May 27, 2024, at Dodge County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, May 30, at Rhine Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Jones and Mr. Gary Ryals officiating, with interment in Bay Springs Cemetery in Rhine, GA. Billy was born in Eastman, GA and resided in Rhine, GA during his early years, where he was a member of Rhine Baptist Church. He attended Rhine Elementary and Dodge County High School, served in the Georgia National Guard for several years, and later studied auto body repair at South Georgia Technical School in Americus, GA. He was owner and operator of Billy’s Body Shop in Rhine, GA and Abbeville, GA for many years and also worked as a truck driver for Roadway Freight for over twenty years. He later enjoyed trucking for Watkins Farm for many years. His love for trucking was sparked during his childhood summers, when he would travel across the United States with his uncle Grits Bowen on a Mayflower moving truck. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, working outdoors, watching NASCAR racing and westerns, shrimp seining on the Georgia coast, and staying busy around his home. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was dedicated to his family. He was preceded in death his Father, John William “Baby” Barron, Brother-in-law, Paul Rogers, Sister-in-law, Sandy Brown Selph, and Nephew, Kyle Barron. He is survived by his Wife of 30 years; Daughters; Son; Step-Daughters; Grandchildren; Great-Grandson; Step-Grandchildren; Mother; Sister; Brother; Several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The family may be contacted at the residence and will receive friends in Rhine Baptist Church from 10:00AM-11:00AM Thursday, May 30.
