Obituary

MRS. LORINE ALLIGOOD DOUGLAS, age 97, of Eastman, GA, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Friday, July 4, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Keith Powell and Rev. Daniel Cook officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Lorine was born on July 10, 1927, to the late Mary Yates Alligood and Willie Frances Alligood. During WWII, she served her country by being a welder on the Liberty Ships in Brunswick, GA. She later worked at the Eastman Cotton Mill for several years before working for Roydon Wear in McRae and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. She was the oldest member of Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Douglas enjoyed tending to the flowers in her yard, attending gospel sings, sewing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her Husband, Inman Douglas, Daughter, Brenda Diamond, Sons-in-law, Pat Diamond and Wendell McCranie, Granddaughter, Kim Mullis, Sister, Maybell “Bell” Evans, Brother, Alton Alligood, and many Half-Brothers and Sisters. She is survived by her Daughters; Grandchildren; Great-Grandchildren; Great-Great-Grandson; Sister-in-law; Step-Brother; Step-Sister; Numerous nieces and nephews; Special Friend; Caregivers. The family may be contacted at the Douglas residence and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 2:00PM-3:00PM before services. In addition to flowers, the family request donations to “Leave It Better”, P.O. Box 819, Eastman, GA 31023, in honor of Lorine.
