MR. WILLIAM R. “BOB†DYKES, JR., age 79, of Eastman, GA, died Friday, April 21, 2023, at his residence.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Bob was born in 1943 in Hawkinsville, GA, raised in Hawkinsville and Cochran and attended Hawkinsville High School. He was a member of the Sugar Creek Congregational Methodist Church in Chauncey and served in the United States Navy in the 1960s. He married in 1967 and moved to Eastman. He worked several jobs over the years including Automobile Mechanic for Bob Butler Ford, Propane Delivery Truck Driver, and mechanic for the Dodge County Road Department. He was an independent auto mechanic for many years and a true FORD man. He loved racing of all kinds, dirt track, NASCAR, ARCA, and Truck Racing. He and his family were fans of 441 Speedway, and they enjoyed many memories through racing over the years. Mr. Dykes was a dedicated husband of 50 years, and a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Bob was the son of the late William Robbie Dykes, Sr. and was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Jacquelyn “Jackie†Dykes, and a sister, Cherry Dykes Floyd.
He is survived by his Daughter; Son; 3 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren; Sister; 2 Brothers; Sister-In-Law; Several Aunts, Uncles, and Nephews.
