MS. IONE BROWN HOWELL, age 85, of Eastman, GA, died Friday, October 8, 2021, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Ms. Howell was born in Oglethorpe, GA and moved to Macon as a child before settling in the Roddy Community, where she resided for many years. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and worked as a housekeeper for numerous businesses including, Dodge County Hospital, The Carriage Inn, and Taylor Regional Hospital. She enjoyed singing and writing songs and recorded in Nashville in the 1970s and toured the country as a country artist. She was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame for her contribution to country music. Ione loved singing at churches and local gatherings. She also enjoyed watching action movies and T.V. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed dearly by her family. She was the daughter of the late Iola Cromer Dykes and J. Alvin Dykes and was preceded in death by her Son, Stephen Howell, Sr. She is survived by her Grandchildren; Great-Grandchildren; Numerous Cousins and Friends.
