M. Edward Sparks, age 76, died Thursday, July 23, 2009 in the North Arundel Health and Rehab Center in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Memorial services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Mathis Funeral Home in Cochran. Internment will be private in Limestone Memorial Gardens. Mr, Sparks was born November 26, 1932 in Dodge County. He was owner of Maryland Wallcovering Company for 35 years. He participated in restoration of many mansions and government buildings such as the Chatham Manor in Lexington, Virginia and the hanging of hand-painted murals in Union Station in Washington, D, C. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of Korea and Naval Reserve until his retirement. He was a former member of Glen Bumie Jaycees, Glen Burnie Rotary and A.A. County Mental Health Association. He enjoyed sports and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Fillmore and Thelma Louise Davis Sparks. Survivors include his wife of 56 years; children; sisters; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
