MR. KENNETH OLIVER SOULEYRETTE, age 83, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, May 5, 2022, at his residence in Eastman. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Mr. Souleyrette was born in London, Kentucky, and as a child moved with his family to Grundy, VA. He attended Grundy High School in Grundy, VA and later joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 17. He enjoyed a 30-year career in the military where he obtained the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Ken was stationed in many places during his career. He did three tours during the Vietnam War and flew over 308 combat missions as a door gunner in Huey helicopters. After his wartime service, he served as a First Sergeant for over twelve years and later worked as a maintenance superintendent for F-15 aircraft while stationed at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, NM, where he eventually retired in the late 1980s as a CMSGT. He was a family man who enjoyed fishing, watching sports on TV, spending time at his home, and being with his family. Ken was the son of the late Thelma Terry Souleyrette and Hubert Souleyrette, and was preceded in death by his Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Evelyn C. Garrett and Lee E. Garrett and 6 Siblings. He is survived by his Wife; 2 Sons; Grandson; Brother-in-law; Niece.
