MR. JOHNNY PLENTY MATHEWS, age 74, of McRae, GA, died Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at McRae Manor Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Johnny was born on November 21, 1950, in Atlanta, GA, and lived there through his formative years. He attended school in Atlanta and worked as a delivery truck driver before moving to Eastman in 1973 and lived there until moving to McRae in 2018. He loved country music and enjoyed spending time with his canine companion Rusty. He was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons football. Johnny enjoyed watching westerns and was a strong cowboy and dressed the part. He was affectionately known as “Cowboy” to his friends. He was the son of the late Evie Mae Smith Mullis and John Plenty Mathews and was preceded in death by a Brother, James Allen Mathews. He is survived by his Son; Grandchildren; Great-Grandchildren; Sisters; Nieces and Nephews; Several Great Nieces and Nephews, and Special Family Friend.
