Obituary

H. Lewis Miller, age 87, of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida went to be with the Lord on September 30, 2019. He was born on January 10, 1932 in Scott, Georgia, to James T. Miller, Jr. and Alma Stewart Miller. Lewis was the first of six children. Lewis was very personable, a great story teller and humorist. He was member of the Wright Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school, served as a Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent, sang in the Choir and started and taught a senior adult fitness class. He loved the Lord and did not hesitate to share the Gospel with others. Helping to lead them to a life serving Christ. Lewis was a dedicated blood donor to the Red Cross and received special recognition for donating many gallons of his blood to help save lives. Lewis joined the US Army at age 17 and was trained as a medic. He served in the Korean War and was wounded earning a Purple Heart. He graduated from Southern Technical Institute in Chamblee, GA with a degree in electrical engineering. After graduation he started working at RCA/Vitro on Eglin Air Force Base where he retired after 40 years. He is survived by his loving family, daughters; brothers; sisters; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 58 years, Jessie Rooks Miller; son, James Vance Ross; brother, Andra Miller; grandson, Travis Chase and granddaughter, Kimberly Andrews Fendley. Funeral services will be held at Wright Baptist Church, 795 Beal Parkway NW, Ft. Walton Beach, FL on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 12:00 pm with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Jeremy Gates will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Eastman, GA, on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 1:00 pm with Mrs. Sandra Miller Sindell officiating. Pallbearers are ...
