MRS. JOYCE ANNETTE YAWN VAUGHN, age 77, of Eastman, GA, died Friday, July 23, 2021, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, July 25, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Dwaine Dunn officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Annette was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a member and former bookkeeper of Central Baptist Church, attended Greenlawn Baptist Church, was a graduate of Dodge County High School, and a graduate from Middle Georgia College with a degree in accounting. She worked as a bookkeeper for over 30 years for various businesses including, C & J Manufacturing, C & A Auto Parts, and the Dodge County Commissioners Office. She was also co-owner and operator, secretary, and bookkeeper for Vaughn’s Garage, a former Food Stamps Office clerk, a former insurance agent and bookkeeper for Eastman Insurance, and a notary public for Dodge County. Annette loved to read, working on puzzles, adult coloring books, and refurbishing furniture. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking cakes and grilling out with family. She was the daughter of the late Carrie “Lizzie” Brown Yawn and Jim Thomas “Tommy” Yawn, and was preceded in death by her Brother, Jimmy Arnold Yawn, and Nephew, Michael Shane Yawn. She is survived by her Daughter; Step-Daughter; 4 Grandchildren; 2 Great-Grandchildren; Former Husband; 3 Sisters-in-law; Several Nieces, Nephews, and extended family members. The family may be contacted at the residence and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 2:00PM-3:00PM Sunday, July 25. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Heart of Georgia Nursing Home, 815 Legion Drive, Eastman, GA 31023, in memory of Annette Vaughn.
