MR. WILLIAM HORACE “SKEET” BROWN, JR., age 88, of Eastman, GA, died Sunday, July 28, 2019 at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, July 31, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Rev. Ted Goshorn officiating. Skeet was a native of Dodge County and a member of Eastman First United Methodist Church. He was a 1948 graduate of Eastman High School, a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired Civil Service Flight Engineer for Robins Air Force Base, working for 30 years. He enjoyed reading books, researching genealogy and history and loved sports cars. He was a member of the Wiregrass Genealogical Society, Eugene Smith Masonic Lodge #279 and the Sports Car Club of America, where he enjoyed road rally’s with club friends for many years. He served on the military draft board during the Vietnam war era, was a longtime board member for the Ocmulgee Regional Library and was in the MACH Busters Club for exceeding the speed of sound in a U.S. Air Force F-100 Super Sabre jet. Skeet was son of the late William Horace Brown, Sr. and Frances Murray Brown and is preceded in death by his sister, Augusta Brown Bennett and his brother-in-law, Paul Bennett. Survivors: Wife of 49 years; 2 Nieces; 4 First Cousins. The family may be contacted at the Brown residence and will receive friends in Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home from 6:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday, July 30.
