MR. JOHN MALOY SHEFFIELD, age 80, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, December 29, at Vilula Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Grenade and Rev. Tim Brown officiating, with interment in Vilula Baptist Church Cemetery. Maloy was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a member and deacon of Vilula Baptist Church, and a 1959 graduate of Dodge County High School. He worked for many years in his youth for John Howard’s farm and later was owner and operator of John Howard’s Store that he operated for many years. He later sold the store and continued to operate and manage the store for several years. Maloy was a loving brother and uncle who also served as a father figure to many children in the community. He was the son of the late Essie Mae Burch Sheffield and John H. Sheffield and was preceded in death by a Brother, Herman Talmadge Sheffield. He is survived by his 3 Sisters; 2 Brothers; Nieces and Nephews; Several Great-Nieces, Great-Nephews, Great-Great-Nephews, and 1 Great-Great-Niece; 2 Aunts; Uncle; Numerous Cousins and Friends. The family may be contacted at the residence and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 5:00PM-7:00PM Tuesday, December 28.
