MRS. WILLA JOY WALKER ROGERS, age 73, of Rentz, GA, died Monday, June 26, 2023, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Thursday, June 29, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Myron Parkerson and Rev. Arnold Rye officiating, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Joy was born in Eastman and was a graduate of Dodge County High School. She later married Thomas Rogers and was blessed with two wonderful children. She worked at C & J Manufacturing and later worked for over 20 years at Reynolds Metals as a Reyno bond salesperson. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was of the Baptist Faith, attended Liberty Baptist Church, but more recently had been attending Freedom Worship Center. Joy enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and watching birds. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren as “Nanny” and her great-grandchildren called her “Candy Granny”. Joy was the daughter of the late Minnie Kirkley Walker and Willie Walker and was preceded in death by her Former Husband, Dallas Thomas Rogers, Grandson, Dalton Chanley Rogers, and Daughter-in-law, Jami Fulghum Rogers. She is survived by her Daughter; Son; 5 Grandchildren; 2 Great-Grandchildren; Sister; Brother; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. The family may be contacted at the residence and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:00PM-2:00PM Thursday, June 29.
