MRS. JOYCE RENEW DOWDY, age 85, of Rhine, GA, died Thursday, July 27, 2023, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, July 31, at Hopewell Baptist Church, with Rev. Daniel Cook and Mr. Bobby Ryals officiating, with interment in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Rhine. Joyce was born and raised in Abbeville, GA and was a graduate of Wilcox County High School. After high school, she married Charles Dowdy and was a homemaker for several years before later working as a paraprofessional for many years for the Dodge County Board of Education, where she specialized in special education Math and English. Joyce was a dedicated and active member of Hopewell Baptist Church and enjoyed the many years she participated in a group bible study conducted by Mr. Bobby Ryals. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joyce was the daughter of the late LaVan Keene Renew and Ernest Renew and was preceded in death by her Husband, Charles G. Dowdy, Sr., Son, Charles G. “Rock” Dowdy, Jr., Sister, Patricia Renew Ashe, and Brother, Charles Renew. She is survived by her Daughter; Son; Grandchildren; Great-Grandchildren; Sisters; Brother; Sister-in-law; Caregivers; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. The family may be contacted at the residence and will receive friends in Hopewell Baptist Church from 10:00AM-11:00AM Monday, July 31.
