MR. JAMES MATTHEW SCARBOROUGH, age 83, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, June 30, at Lovely Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Dr. Donnie Sutton and Rev. Mark Grinsted officiating. James was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, of the Baptist Faith, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a retired National Guardsman for over 20 years. He later worked at Bluebird Body Company from 1967 until his retirement in 2002. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends. James was the son of the late Emma Holland Scarborough and Joseph Walter Scarborough and was preceded in death by his Wife, Rachel Wright Scarborough, and Brothers, J.W. Scarborough, Thomas Scarborough, Donald Scarborough, and Melvin Scarborough. He is survived by his 2 Stepsons – Danny R. McCullough and Ronald E. McCullough (Sue), both of Eastman; 6 Grandchildren; Several Great-Grandchildren; 2 Sisters – Louise Smisson of Tennessee and Sherill Yawn of Atlanta; Brother – Marvin Scarborough of Cochran; Special Friend – Bernice Odom of Eastman; Several Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends in Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home from 9:30AM-10:30AM Friday, June 30.
