Obituary

MR. DONALD WAYNE JACKSON, SR., age 73, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Dodge County Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, April 11, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. LaDon Connell officiating, with interment in Sugar Creek Congregational Methodist Church Cemetery in Chauncey. Wayne was born in Americus in 1950 and was raised in Pitts. He attended Pitts High School and worked on the family farm. He was a member of Sugar Creek Congregational Methodist Church and attended Railroad Community Church in Chauncey. He worked for Rainbow Irrigation in Fitzgerald for a few years before going to work as a master mechanic for the Georgia Department of Transportation where he enjoyed a career of over 20 years. Wayne was a dedicated husband and father and a beloved brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He loved mechanic work and enjoyed tinkering on things. He enjoyed attending classic car shows and was a dedicated church member. He loved the Lord and his church. Wayne was the son of the late James Clyde Jackson and Lena Mae Britt Jackson. He is preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Sandra Fitchett Jackson and 5 siblings, Clifford James Jackson, Billy Jackson, William Jackson, Mary Payne, and Patsy Ann Jackson. He is survived by his Daughter; Son; 3 Step-Children; 16 Grandchildren; Numerous Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters; 1 Brother; 4 Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law; Several Nieces and Nephews. The family may be contacted at the Jackson residence and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Monday, April 10. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to Railroad Community Church, Chauncey, GA 31011.
