Obituary

MR. BILLY MARK ROGERS, age 52, of Eastman, GA, died Sunday, August 1, 2021, at his residence, as the result of a massive brain stroke on July 1, 2017. He was in the hospital for three months and then came home to live with his mother, along with the care of Hospice Care Options. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, August 4, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Donnie Sutton and Rev. C.W. Mullis officiating, with interment in Gresston Congregational Holiness Cemetery. Mark was born in Dodge County, a 1988 graduate of Baker Academy in Pulaski County, where he excelled at football during his elementary and high school years, and he was of the holiness faith and gave his heart to the Lord while his was in the hospital in Atlanta. He was a graduate of Heart of Georgia Vocational School, where he graduated from the EMT program, and he worked for the Dodge County Hospital for several years before working at Reynolds Metals for five years. He later worked at Bleckley County Community Mental Health for several years before working at Alcoa in the Reynobond department. Mark was a master outdoorsman, a great carpenter, and enjoyed, hunting, and fishing. He also loved animals and enjoyed training horses, where he rode in numerous horse shows and won many awards. Mark was preceded by his Step-Father, Charles Lee “Charlie” Brown, Paternal Grandparents, Dallas Rogers and Gladys Williams Rogers, Step-Grandparents, Charlie C. Brown and Annie Pearl Hubbard Brown, Uncles, Phillip Brown, Wayne Brown, Robert Jones, and Thomas Rogers. Mark is survived by his Daughter; Son; Grandson; Mother; Father; 4 Sisters; 2 Brothers; Aunts and Uncles; Several Nieces and Nephews. The family may be contacted at the residence and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday, August 3.
