Obituary

MR. WILTON ISAAC COOK, age 79, of Douglas, GA, died Saturday, June 18, 2022, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Mike Grenade officiating. Followed by a private family committal service at Bay Springs Cemetery. Mr. Cook was born in 1942 in Eastman. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Wilton was a 1963 graduate of Dodge County High School before enlisting in the US Army where he served a tour of duty in Vietnam and received a Purple Heart. When he returned home to Eastman, he worked for Roper Signs for a brief time before beginning a career as a civil service employee at Robins Air Force Base. He also served in the Army National Guard. He was a dedicated husband of 38 years and a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, boating, driving his old Scottsdale Chevrolet, making others laugh, and watching TV. He was the son of the late Frances Smith Cook and Ernest Zeno Cook and was preceded in death by his Wife, Sandra Graham Cook; and his Siblings, Wilsene Andrews, Carlene Benton, Waldo Cook, and James Cook. He is survived by his 2 Sons; Brother; 3 Grandchildren; Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-law; Several Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends at 10:00AM-11:00AM, Wednesday June 22, 2022 in Southerland Funeral Chapel. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to Dodge Baptist Association.
