MR. GEORGE OWEN SMITH, age 86, of Eastman, GA, died Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home. Memorial services will be held at a later date. George was born in Doylestown, OH, a graduate for Doylestown High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served as an MP at Fort Knox, KY, and was a resident of Barberton, OH for many years. He was a former insurance agent for Banker’s Life and Casualty for many years and received many awards and commendations. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, a former Mason, and was a member of Bay Springs Freewill Baptist Church in Eastman. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, watching western movies, and enjoyed playing chess, rook, Farkle, and Scrabble. George was the son of the late Pearl Moss Smith and Frederick Smith and was preceded in death by a Step-Son, Charles Westbrook and 2 Brothers, Larry Smith and Roger Smith. He is survived by his Wife of 13 years; 2 Daughters; Granddaughter; 2 Great-Granddaughters; 2 Step-Daughters; Several Step-Grandchildren and Step-Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews. The family may be contacted at the residence. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bay Springs Freewill Baptist Church.
