Cochran ~ Mr. John L. Dempsey, age 88, went home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Wednesday, February 8, 2023, surrounded by family, at Church Home LifeSpring Rehabilitation & Healthcare in Peach county. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 2:30 P.M. at Faith Baptist Church with Dr. Lane Collins and Mathew White officiating services. Interment will be private in Bowers Cemetery. The family will meet friends following the service Saturday at the church. Mr. John was born in Chester, October 25, 1934, the son of the late Mr. John W. and Bertha Williams Dempsey and was preceded in death by his sister, Myrtice Dempsey Whigham; and brothers, James Wendell Dempsey and Curtis Dempsey. He attended Dodge County school's and was a member of the Class of 1954. John continued his education at both Middle George College and Georgia College graduating in 1975. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base after 37 years of service with the JSTARS program. Mr. John was a loyal member of Empire Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Song leader, Brotherhood Association, and Sunday School director. He was also a member of Robins Toast Master Club. Mr. John leaves behind the love of his life; 3 daughters; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother; sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
