Obituary

MR. WILLIE “LEE” DYKES, JR., age 61, of Eastman, GA, died on Friday, October 1, 2021, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Lee was born in Macon, GA, a 1979 graduate of Bleckley County High School, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Eastman. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed in Norfolk, VA. After he completed his obligation to the Coast Guard, he moved to Cochran and became an EMT and firefighter and worked with the Bleckley County Fire Department for several years. He later graduate from Central Georgia Technical College with a degree in Culinary Arts. Lee worked at the Laurens Memorial Hospital in Dublin in the dietary department for several years before venturing out and starting his personal carpentry and plumbing business in Dawsonville and Cumming that he operated for many years before retiring and moving to Eastman. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, and a loving son and brother, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing video games. He was preceded in death by his Father, Willie L. “Pete” Dykes, Sr and 3 Aunts, Theris Sellers, Elaine Jones and Betty Floyd. He is survived by his Wife; Daughter; Son; 7 Grandchildren; Mother; Sister; Several Nieces and Nephews; 2 Uncles; Aunt; Brother-in-law; 2 Sisters-in-law; Numerous Cousins and Friends.
