Mr. William B. Coody, age 90, died Friday, July 14, 2017 at Carl Vincent Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, Ga. Graveside services with Military Honors were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Antioch #1 Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Fred Parker officiating. Mr. Coody was born April 17, 1927 in Gresston, Ga. to the late Annie Mae Holder Coody and Charles Coody. He served in the Navy during WWII, after which he worked for Herrington Buick Co. in Hawkinsville for forty-eight years. He was a devoted Christian, charter member of Broadstreet Baptist Church. After moving to Eastman in 1960, he joined Antioch #1 Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over forty years. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his crops with family and neighbors. He is survived by one son; daughter; son-in-law; sister; grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coody was predeceased by wives, Elsie McGuorirk Coody and Mary Brooks Coody; one brother, Russell (Bo) Coody, sisters, Mattie Pearl Odgburn, Mary Ann Myrick, and Evelyn Hood; granddaughter, Glenda Christine Sizemore.
