David Montgomery Roberts, the gentleman who so ably represents the 14th district in the senate, was embraces born in theLaurens countiesCounty of Dodge, on the Wilcox, 15th Dooly day ofand June, Pulaski. 1837. The district of which he is the representative Mr. Roberts spent the days of his boyhood in Laurens County on the farm of his father. At the age of 7 he went from Laurens County to Thomas County. He has never attended any regular college, but received most of his education in Laurens County, where he read law, and at an early age he was admitted to the bar to practice his choosen profession. Mr. Roberts has two sons, both young boys, who are attending school at their home in Eastman, Ga. He is very domestic in his habits, and has never entered the field of politics until he made the race for the senate against Hon. John F. DeLacy, a former representative. Senator Roberts is a Democrat, and his father before him, was an old line Whig. He was a farmer and a Baptist. Mr. Roberts is making a record for himself as a careful and able legislator. He occupies a prominent place on seven different committees in the senate, and has, by special request, been added to two others.­
