oyce L. Jones 1929 - 2012 -EASTMAN - MRS. JOYCE LANCASTER JONES, age 82, of Eastman, GA, died Friday, March 30, 2012. -Funeral services will be held at 4P.M. Saturday, March 31 in Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Jerry Peele officiating with the assistance of Dr. Rick Mitchell, Mrs. Barbara Dean and Joyce's grandchildren, with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. She was born to the late Martha Caroline Southerland Lancaster and James Monroe Lancaster on September 26, 1929. After graduating from Chester High School, Joyce received a bachelor degree in education from Georgia Teachers College, now known as Georgia Southern University, in order to pursue her passion to teach math and reading to children. For 31 years, Joyce enjoyed working as a teacher for the Dodge County School System. After retiring in 1982, Joyce actively participated in the Georgia Retired Educators Association and began to avidly travel throughout the country with her closest friends. Joyce was a devoted member of First Baptist Church and served on the History Committee, Adult Choir, and as the Outreach Leader of Sally Bacon Sunday School Class. She was widow of the late Charles Axam Jones. Survivors; Grandchildren.
