Obituary

Mr. Roy Duane Harrell, age 68, of Eastman died Monday, October 19, 2009 in Coliseum Northside Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Peele, Rev. Charlie Robinson, Rev. Joe Daniel, and Rev. Daryle Summey officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7:00 p. m. 1o 9 p. m. at the funeral home. Mr. Harrell was born in Dodge County on August 13, 1941 and lived there most of his life where he touched many lives with his pleasant demeanor and perseverance. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Harrell was a member and deacon at Fair Haven Baptist Church until joining Eastman First Baptist Church and the Chapel Sunday school class. He was a graduate of the first coed class of Georgia College and State University where he received his B. S. in Accounting. He worked for Central of Georgia Railroad and Robins Air Force Base. He also operated a fanning enterprise, income tax business, Preferred Risk Insurance Agency and a Sears catalogue store. He also worked as Chief Financial Officer at Dodge County Hospital and retired from the Dodge County Tax Assessors Office. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Cecil and Annie Maude Yancey Harrell; and a brother, J. T. Harrell. Survivors include his wife of forty-five years; daughters; grandchildren; longtime friend; sister; brothers.
