Obituary
Mr. John Caswell "Johnny" Johnson, age 82, of Plainfield Community in Dodge County, died Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Dogwood Gardens in Eastman.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, in Southerland Funeral Chapel with Mr. Reggie Sheffield and the Rev. Tim Tanner officiating, with interment in Plainfield Baptist Church Cemetery.
Johnny was born in Newton County and was a 1954 graduate of Newton County High School. After graduation, he attended the North Georgia School of Photography in Clarksville and joined the United States Air Force, graduating from the Air Force School of Photography in Denver, Colo., in 1956. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and a resident of Dodge County since 1957.
He was a member and deacon emeritus of Plainfield Baptist Church, a retired agricultural businessman and a former co-owner and operator of Tri-County Implement Company for 11 years and Tri-County Peanut Company for 35 years. He was owner of Pineland Farms in Plainfield, which was designated as a Georgia Centennial Family Farm in 2012 by Governor Nathan Deal.
Mr. Johnson was a former volunteer fireman and fire chief of Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department, a certified EMT, former assistant coroner in Dodge County, past president and board member at the Dodge County Farm Bureau for nine years, EMS director at Dodge County Hospital for four years, a Red Shirt volunteer and worked at Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home for five years.
Johnny was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was son of the late Minnie Sue Meadors Johnson and Wilbur C. Johnson and preceded in death by his Wife, Martha Jane Parkerson Johnson.
Survivors: daughter; son; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Plainfield Baptist Church Building Fund, 271 Plainfield Road, Eastman, GA 31023; or Gideons International Bibles.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the Dodge County Hospital, Dogwood Gardens staff and residents, Hospice Care Options of Eastman and Johnny's special caregivers and sitters.
