MR. ALFRED CHARLES GAY, age 84, of Eastman, GA, died Friday, October 2, 2020 at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, October 4, at Plainfield Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Wayne Poole and Rev. Robbie Jones officiating. Charles was born in Dublin, of the Christian Faith, and a retired industrial mechanic for Gilman Paper Company for over 10 years. He was a former employee of Reeves Brothers for over 33 years and enjoyed farming. He was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman, enjoyed collecting knives, and spending time at home with his family. For several years, he was a dirt track racecar driver and drag racer and liked watching NASCAR racing . Charles was the son of the late Mary Alma Beasley Gay and Dock T. Gay and was preceded in death by a Daughter, Debra Gay, Son, Charles Craig Gay, Daughter-in-law, Gwen Jones Gay, and 7 Siblings, Terrell Gay, Ballard Gay, Odell Gay, Elvis Gay, Donald Gay, Fostine Smith, and Hauline Wright. He is survived by his Wife of 44 years; Daughter; 3 Sons; 12 Grandchildren; Several Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; Several Nieces and Nephews. Charles will lie-in-state from 10:00AM-3:00PM Saturday, October 3 at Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home.
