Obituary
Oscar Harrison Stuckey, Sr., 85 of Cordele, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Navicent Hospital of Central Georgia. Due to government restrictions, a private graveside service only will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Bay Springs Cemetery in Rhine. The service will be live-streamed from Rainey Family Funeral Service web site at www.raineyfuneral.com and their Facebook page.
Oscar was born in Dodge County to the late John Daniel Stuckey and Dora Bell Hardie Stuckey. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Ann Stuckey, a son, Oscar Harrison Stuckey, Jr. and brothers, Gene Stuckey, Jack Stuckey and Hardy Stuckey. A veteran of the United States Army, Oscar was a meat cutter and market manager for Piggly Wiggly for over 20 years before his retirement. Since then he has been known as Mr. Pine Straw Man and made a successful business of gathering and selling pinestraw. He loved his family and the time that he had with them. A devout Christian, he attended church at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Oscar loved to talk to people and had a smile and a kind word for all that he met. His main subject was always his Lord, witnessing and trying to bring others closer to Jesus.
Oscar is survived by his children and their spouses; grandchildren and their spouses; great-grandchildren; siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
