Joyce Jeanette Brooks Whatley, age 84, a resident of Gulf Shores, AL, formerly of Eastman, GA, passed away October 23, 2023. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who loved all of her children and grandchildren dearly. A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at 2:00PM Friday, November 10, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. D’Wayne Burney officiating. Mrs. Whatley was born and raised in Adel, GA. After school, she worked as a pharmacy packer at Lawrence Pharmaceutical in Jacksonville, FL. After finishing her career, she was a homemaker, a loving grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the daughter of the late Irene Brahnam Brooks and Robert Carson Brooks and was preceded in death by her Husband, Jimmy Whatley, Son, Mitchell Snelgrove, 2 Grandsons, Rusty and Cory Mincey, Great-Granddaughter, Malori Savannah Gaige Hughes, 3 Sisters, Imogene Babbs, Laverne Brooks, and Barbara Ann Scott, and 6 Brothers, Carson Brooks, Leroy Knowles, Horace Brooks, James Brooks, Johnny Brooks, and Lawson Brooks. Joyce is survived by her Son; Daughters; Brother; 9 Grandchildren; 29 Great-Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great-Granddaughter. The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:30PM-2:00PM Friday, November 10, and may be contacted at the Snelgrove residence, 1227 Horne Rd., Eastman, GA, 31023.
