Mr. Mike Simpson passed into the presence of the Lord on November 7, 2019 at the G.S. Walker Center for Palliative Care in Eastman. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Hardy-Towns Chapel with Rev. Jack Lee and Rev. John Cadwell officiating. Visitation will follow the service. Mike was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was the owner and operator of Simpson's Body Shop for many years and enjoyed restoring old cars. He had a collection of Ford Fairlanes which were immaculately restored. He was very proud of his sons, Blake and Brannon, and the families that they have. Mike passed his mechanical knowledge on to his grandsons, J.W. and A.J., who loved to work with their Papa. Mike also enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, Tabitha and Sadie, who loved to dress up and play with their Papa. He loved his daughters-in-law, Maria and Melissa, just as he did his sons. He had a soft spot for all of his girls, especially his wife, Connie, whom he loved dearly. Throughout their marriage he provided a strong example of what a good husband and father should be. Mike always enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends. Mike was born February 4, 1949, to his parents, J.W. Simpson and Elise Howard, and was raised in Eastman. He graduated from Dodge County High School in 1967. After graduation, he attended South Georgia Technical School in Americus, GA where he became a draftsman. He enlisted in the Georgia National Guard for the first time in 1969 and served six years. In 1990, Mike re-enlisted in the GA National Guard to serve his country once again. During this time, he was activated twice. The first time was for Operation Desert Storm, where he was in maintenance and served as a Huey Helicopter Crew Chief. During his second activation, he served in Albany, GA during the Flood of 1994, assisting with flights for patients who needed medical care. Mike loved his country and was proud to serve. He was also a member of the Eugene Smith Masonic Lodge #279, the Al Sihah Shrine in Macon and the Dodge County Shrine Club. Mike always believed in helping others and always did so with a humble yet cheerful attitude. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 48 years; children,; grandchildren; sisters; brother-in-law; sister-in-law several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
