MR. CHARLES EDISON SMITH, age 88, of Eastman, GA, died Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Dodge County Hospital. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, at Bay Springs Cemetery in Plainfield, with Rev. Larry Mullis and Rev. Russell “Buddy” Horne officiating. Edison was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a charter member, deacon and song leader of First Freewill Baptist Church for over 40 years, and a retired Quality Assurance Specialist for Robins Air Force Base for over 36 years. He was a dedicated and loving husband who loved his family, had a great wit for telling stories of his youth, and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. He was the son of the late Nancy Jewell Butler Smith and Isaac Monroe Smith and was preceded in death by his first Wife, Julia Etta Evans Smith, Sister, Marjorie Ross Van Pelt, and Brother, Hollis M. Smith. He is survived by his Wife; Step-Sons; 12 Grandchildren; 18 Great-Grandchildren; Great-Great-Grandson; Sister; 2 Brothers; Sister-in-law; Brother-in-law; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
