Obituary
William Dewey Berry, 84, passed from this life Sunday morning, June 19th, 2011, at Cameron Hall, Ellijay, Georgia. He was born on November 5, 1926, to his late parents May Belle Powell Berry and William Dewey Berry Sr. in Milan, Dodge County, Georgia. He was a charter member of the Freedom Baptist Church in Milan. As a graduate of Milan High School class of 1944, he immediately joined the U.S. Army where he served honorably in Italian European Theatre of War. Upon returning to his home town of Milan, he was employed at the John Deer tractor dealership. He also served as Mayor of Milan for two terms before opening his own tractor equipment dealership in Millen, Georgia, in the 1960's.
Mr. Berry is survived by his wife of 63 years; sons; grandchildren. Mr. Berry is also survived by three great-grandchildren. Mr. Berry is survived by sisters; brother; sister-in-law and brother-in-law and nephew.
Mr. Berry is preceded in death by sisters Lucille Berry Melvin of Milan, Pauline Berry Fussell of Jacksonville, Ga., and Mattie Mae Berry Taylor of Columbus.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 11:00 a.m. at the Milan City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 25 Telfair County Line Road, Milan, Georgia, 31060 or the American Heart Association American Heart Association, 1101 Northchase Parkway, Marietta, GA 30067 in memory of Mr. Berry.
