Obituary

MRS. MARY LAVERNE CADWELL JAMIESON, age 96, of Eastman, GA, died Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Serenity Place in Dublin. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, February 8, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Jerry Peele, Rev. Jack Lee, and Mr. John Cadwell officiating, with interment in Sand Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Milan. Mrs. Jamieson was born in Dodge County, a graduate of Milan High School, a member of Eastman First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, a member of the WMU, the oldest member of the Col. William Few Chapter of the DAR, and a former member of the Eastman Pilot Club. She helped many people though the years as a volunteer patient coordinator for the American Cancer Society. She was a former bank teller and a loan officer at the Bank of Eastman for over 17 years and the bookkeeper for her husband’s business, Jamieson Construction Company for over 60 years. Laverne was a dedicated wife and the love of Jim’s life for 71 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, tending her flowers, and enjoyed the beauty of nature around her home. She was daughter of the late Leila Jones Cadwell and Dave Cadwell, widow of C.H. “Jim” Jamieson, and was preceded in death by an Infant Son, 3 Grandchildren, Angela Jamieson, James Todd Jamieson, and Jamieson Chad McCranie, and 6 Siblings, Ivelyn Cadwell Evans, Jeanette Cadwell Ross, Buddy Cadwell, Wilmer Cadwell, John Cadwell, and S.C. Cadwell. Survivors: 2 Sons; Daughter; 4 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Sister-in-law; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. The family may be contacted at the Jamieson residence and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 1:00PM-2:00PM Saturday, February 8.
