Obituary

It is with sincere regret that we have to announce the death of a son of Mr. Enoch Howard, an employee iof Mr. Raiford, at his steam mill, near dubois, on Tuesday, the 7th inst (July 1874). the particulars of the sad occurance as we gather them are that the boy, a lad of some fourteen years of age, was riding on a logwagon, used for drawing stocks to the mill, and it is supposed he must have fallen directly in front of the wheel, not allowing hime time to alarm the driver before the wheel passed over his body, mangling and crushing him in a fearful manner. He never spoke after accident, and survived only a few hours.
