Charles Dowdy 1933 - 2009 -RHINE - CHARLES GRIFFIN DOWDY SR., age 76, of Rhine, GA died Thursday, April 2, 2009. -Funeral Services are scheduled for 2P.M. Saturday, April 4 in Hopewell Baptist Church, with Rev. Joel Owens and Mr. Mike Hilliard officiating, with interment in Hopewell Cemetery, with Rev. Randy Conley officiating. -Mr. Dowdy, a native of Dodge County, was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, retired State Inspector with Georgia Department of Agriculture, a farmer, veteran of the U.S. Army and father of the late Charles G. "Rock" Dowdy Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christine and Jim Cullen Dowdy and a brother, James Durden Dowdy. -Survivors: Wife; Daughter; Son; eight Grandchildren; three Sisters; Friends; eight Great-Grandchildren also survive. -In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Hopewell Baptist Church, 5700 Fair Haven Church Road, Rhine, GA 31077. -Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman has charge of arrangements.
