MRS. ERNESTINE GIDDENS 1923 - January 20, 2017 Eastman, GA- MRS. ERNESTINE ROZAR GIDDENS, age 93, of Eastman, GA, died Friday, January 20, 2017 at Heart of Georgia Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, January 23, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Paul Cowles and Rev. Mike Clements officiating, with interment in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Giddens was a lifelong resident of Dodge County, a member of Gresston Baptist Church and a retired seamstress for C & J Manufacturing and L & M Shirt Factory. She was a graduate of Chester High School. After she married, she and her husband moved to Birmingham where she was one of the original "Rosie the Riveter" at Fort McPherson and Robins Air Force Base during WWII. She was the daughter of the late Rosa Long Rozar & Eddie Monroe Rozar. Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years - John W. Giddens - and 3 Sisters, Mae Roy Poston, Laureen Wood, and Imogene Rozar. Survivors: 4 Children. 6 Grandchildren. 11 Great-Grandchildren; Brother-In-Law; Several Nieces and Nephews. The family will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 5:00PM-7:00PM Sunday, January 22. In addition to flowers, the family request contributions to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or Middle Ground Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
