Obituary

MRS. IRIS MEREDITH WILLIAMSON MORRIS, age 77, of Eastman, GA, died Thursday, April 23, 2020 in Gulf Breeze, FL. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, April 28, at Woodlawn Cemetery, with Elder Danny Edge officiating. Iris was a native of Dodge County, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and a retired educator who taught 7th grade social studies for many years at Ben Hill County Middle School. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother who enjoyed taking care of her animals and was an avid doll collector. She was a tireless animal rights advocate who supported dozens of animal rights organizations, served on the board of directors for several years at the Ben Hill County Animal Shelter, and volunteered teaching obedience to shelter dogs upon her retirement from teaching. Iris served as a volunteer for several years at the Eastman Christian Life Center and was a seasoned world traveler who enjoyed traveling with her husband Gordon and competing in ballroom dancing competitions. She was the daughter of the late Lilla Mae Batts Williamson and G. Ben Williamson of Fitzgerald and was preceded in death by her Husband, Gordon Lee Morris, Jr, former Husband, Lawrence Faulkner, 4 Siblings, Mariah Dix, Georgia Mae Law, Joyce Blackman, and Horace Williamson, Niece- Dianne Packey, and Great-Niece, Emily Piper Smith. She is survived by her Daughter; Step-Grandson; Sister; 3 Nieces; 4 Nephews; 6 Great-Nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Faithful Hearts Animal Shelter, 77 Industrial Blvd., Eastman, GA 31023.
