Obituary
Woodrow Dykes, age 89, of McRae, died Sunday, March 29, 2009.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Chauncey. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Dykes was a native of Milan, where he had lived most of his life. He was born June 30,1919. He was a member and deacon of Sweet Home Baptist Church, had worked for 22 years with Dodge County Roads and Revenue as bridge foreman and was the Telfair County Courthouse bailiff for 23 years. Mr. Dykes was a retired farmer and spent 15 years as a Milan City Councilman and five years as a Peace Officer for Dodge County. He had lived in McRae Manor Nursing Home for the past 3h years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Nellie Sheffield Dykes; his wife, Marietta Jones Dykes; and brothers and sisters. Annie Hamilton. Melton (Tottie) Dykes. J. I. Dykes and Lina Mae Dykes.
Survivors include his brother; sister: and sister-in¬law.
