Eastman, GA- MR. CALVIN W. YAWN, age 78, of EASTMAN, GA, died Thursday, February 23, 2017, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, February 25, at Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Rick Mitchell and Mr. Charles Williams, with interment in Orphans Cemetery. Mr. Yawn, born in Dodge County, was a member of the Eastman First United Methodist Church and a 1956 graduate of Chauncey High School. He was the owner and operator of Yawn Meats in McRae for over 30 years. Calvin was a member of the Eugene Smith Masonic Lodge #279, a longtime Rotary Club member, a Paul Harris Fellow and a Past President. He was an Eastman Housing Authority Director for 15 years and served as a board member for a combined 25 years, served on the Easter Seals Board of Directors for over 10 years, a chairman for the Dodge Community and Schools Board and a member of the Dodge County Airport Authority and Three Rivers Home Health Care Board of Directors. Calvin was son of the late Beatrice Coleman Yawn and Wilbur Yawn and was preceded in death by his wife – Joyce McCranie Yawn. Survivors: Wife; 3 Daughters; 3 Grandchildren; Sister; Special Family; Brother-in-law; Caretaker; Several Nieces and Nephews. The family may be contacted at the Yawn residence and will receive friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 6:00PM – 8:00PM, Friday February 24.
